Is it solipsistic in here or is it just me?

After Let It Bleed and Beggar's Banquet, this is probably the Stones next best album (that or Exile On Main St, I don't know which is better). This is when the Stones were on a creative streak that was just incredible. Some of their best work on this album.

Hm, yeah. It was my favorite Stones album for a while. Not so much anymore. I'm not sure what it is, it just feels kind of half-baked to me (though tbh I'd say the same about every Stones album besides Exile).

Absolute masterpiece, etc. My favorite by them, and what is for me the peak of classic rock (unless you count psych, pop and folk from the 60s, but I don't).

This exactly. I think it was on my chart for a few months, actually.

Peak Stones, but I still think of this as the album between Let It Bleed and Exile. It doesn't feel like it has the personality of the other two, even though the average quality of the tracks is high. Well... maybe it's more in-your-face than the other two...

Anyway, it's still a great listen. Highlights for me are "Can't You Hear Me Knocking" (one of the best Stones riffs), "Sister Morphine," and "Moonlight Mile." Also, I agree with Jagger that Richards should have done the vocals on "Dead Flowers."

This, verbatim. Well, actually, Beggar's Banquet > Let It Bleed for me.

I only really adore Jones-era Stones myself (Their Satanic Majesties Request, Aftermath, and Beggars Banquet are all big favorites for me). But this one is alright as far as my thoughts on it go.
