What is your favorite post-rock album?

Been listening to some post-rock releases lately, so just wondering what is your favorite post-rock album...

In my overall chart I have the following albums:

17. Tortoise - TNT
36. Slint - Spiderland
56. Godspeed You! Black Emperor - Yanqui U.X.O.
79. Explosions In The Sky - The Earth Is Not A Cold Dead Place
84. Sigur Rós - Ágætis Byrjun

So my vote will go to Tortoise - TNT.

I'm yet to hear a totally satisfactory definition of post-rock, but on my chart I have TNT by Tortoise and Hammock Style by Ganger.

Here's a bunch of other albums on my chart that I see as albums that either acted as forebears to the genre (whatever the genre actually is), or otherwise just albums that might share some of its defining features, if it actually had any:

Burial - Untrue
Brian Eno - Ambient 1: Music for Airports
Aphex Twin - Selected Ambient Works vol. II
Can - Ege Bamyasi
Oval - 94diskont
Keith Hudson - Pick a Dub
Faraquet - The View From This Tower
William Basinski - The Disintegration Loops

But yeah, it'd be a massive stretch to call any of those records "post-rock", despite the lack of a concrete template.

I don't know what post-rock is. Out of the albums presented in your list, Laughing Stock is my favourite.

Talk Talk's Laughing Stock, Talk Talk's Spirit of Eden, Tortoise's TNT, Dirty Three's Ocean Songs, Slint's Spiderland, Tortoise's Millions Now Living Will Never Die, Mark Hollis' Mark Hollis, Bark Psychosis' Hex, Tortoise's Tortoise, Dirty Three's Whatever You Love You Are, Tarwater's 11/6 12/10, .O.rang's Fields and Waves, Ui's Sidelong, Stereolab's Emperor Tomato Ketchup, Jessamine's The Long Arm of Coincidence, Pram's Helium, and maybe June of 44's Four Great Points have all been called post rock by someone and are on my chart. To Rococo Rot's Veiculo should also be in there; Ganger's fun too, though I'm not sure if I prefer Fore or Hammock Style.

Yes. Post-Rock is slowly becoming one of my favourite genres of all time. And I know there are more that I should listen to.

Anyway, my order of favourite albums I've listened to from the genre would be:
1. Agaetis Byrjun - Sigur Ros
2. Spiderland - Slint
3. F♯A♯∞ - Godspeed You! Black Emperor
4. ( ) - Sigur Ros
5. Millions Now Living Will Never Die - Tortoise
6. Takk - Sigur Ros
7. Spirit of Eden - Talk Talk
8. Hex - Bark Psychosis
9. All is Violent, All is Bright - God is an Astronaut
10. Laughing Stock - Talk Talk
11. Lift Your Skinny Fists Like Antennas To Heaven - Godspeed You! Black Emperor

I know it's pretty standard but I'm working my way through more obscure albums of the genre.

EDIT: I know that Shelter - Alcest is labelled under post-rock too and while it has many elements I'm not sure if it would be necessary to include it.

My favourites that aren't on the list: Codename: Dustsucker (much better than Hex, in my opinion), Hymn to the Immortal Wind, Mi Media Naranja, All Is Violent, All Is Bright, The Fall Of Math and Gangs.

Looking through my top 100, I'd say these definitely qualify...

Far less than I'd anticipated. There are probably plenty more I could include depending how broad you regard the genre.
