Tour-de-force performances by (so I say) the best jazz band in the world at the time recorded beautifully, every instrument from bass to ride cymbal perfectly clear and present, so often not the case in live jazz, or studio recordings for that matter. Even the introduction by the legendary Pee Wee Marquette is classic; if you don't know who he is, you really should check out the excellent write-up on him at the Dangerous Minds web site, he's a jazz immortal. (Disappointingly, if you read that article, I think he pronounces Horace Silver's name correctly on this occasion.) This is an all-time great jazz record.
