Outliers can be removed when calculating a mean average to dampen the effects of ratings outside the normal distribution. This figure is provided as the trimmed mean. One of the weakest Black Thought album in the last few years IMO
A really strong album from start to finish. I actually like this more than Cheat Codes (just barely, though). Black Thought has always been a great storyteller, but I think songs like "I Would Never," "The Weather," and "I'm Still Somehow" feature some of his best writing to date. Cheat Codes and Danger Mouse's production is without a doubt more accessible, and has all the hard-hitting features to make it stand out, but I prefer El Michels Affair's softer sound and more soulful production that really let Thought shine on this record.
I'm disappointed to say it's not as strong as Cheat Codes (how can you compare to Danger Mouse's production on that) but still fine. On par with Streams of Thought, Vol 3. Interested to see who he's going to team up with next.

The tempo changes (in Hollow Way and The Weather in particular) are magnificent, although Cheat Codes edges it by a whisker.

On par with Cheat Codes. Really loving these collabs Black Thought has been working on. Perhaps that'll be what he does during the 20s but would love to see another Roots release as well.
