“200XAD” develops legs across its length. The album starts with Mega Drive‘s classic computerized sound and gains greater depth over each track. The melodies become more fluid and weave between the driven percussion. It is able to create a variety of emotions ranging from curiosity to fear just from these instrumental interactions. The run from “Infrared Icon” to “Nakatomi Night Assault” is incredible. The project is a bit weaker when it tries to remake previous tracks. “Memoria” is respectable as a call back but adds very little beyond that. A worthy descendant of “198XAD” and the best synthwave album in a long time.
