Before I Forget drifts out of the speakers like a soggy confessional booth someone left in a car on a hot day — earnest, earnest, and then earnest again, with all the emotional nuance of a diary read aloud in an echo chamber. Laroi clearly chucks his heart on the table and sighs over it, taking us through post‑breakup tedium with the relentless patience of someone explaining why their toaster betrayed them, but half the time the production slips into safe R&B‑pop autopilot that feels less like revelation and more like wallpaper you’re politely supposed to cry into. There are flashes of genuine ache and a couple of hooks that almost escape the gloom, but too many tracks melt into the same muggy emotional stew without ever being brave enough to stab the spoon through the bottom of the bowl. It’s like watching someone sit on a beach in slow motion, staring at a love letter that, by the end, you’re not even sure was meant for you. *Before I Forget* tries to be an intimate peel back of feeling but ends up a bit like well‑meaning numbness in designer clothes.
