Rating metrics:
Outliers can be removed when calculating a mean average to dampen the effects of ratings outside the normal distribution. This figure is provided as the trimmed mean. A high standard deviation can be legitimate, but can sometimes indicate 'gaming' is occurring. Consider a simplified example* of an item receiving ratings of 100, 50, & 0. The mean average rating would be 50. However, ratings of 55, 50 & 45 could also result in the same average. The second average might be more trusted because there is more consensus around a particular rating (a lower deviation).
(*In practice, some albums can have several thousand ratings)
This album is rated in the top 2% of all albums on BestEverAlbums.com. This album has a Bayesian average rating of 79.0/100, a mean average of 77.5/100, and a trimmed mean (excluding outliers) of 79.6/100. The standard deviation for this album is 16.2.

Even though not the most groundbreaking artist, she manages to spike my interest just enough to get excited with every album. She's back with her hyperpop and electroclash bangers, and on the rest she reinvents many electronic genres from the past decades and makes them sound shiny and new.
The "queer house" dance tracks "Club Classics" and "Talk Talk". Shameless late '00s early '10s-style EDM on "Mean Girls" that makes you wanna jump into a pool with David Guetta and Akon, which I didn't think anyone would get away with in the '20s. And my personal favorite, the baroque techno mess that is "Everything is Romantic" that can only be some weird child of early M83's electro-shoegazing with early Goldfrapp's baroque electroclash.
She gets a bit personal on two tracks (and overall tries her shot at some more socially aware lyrics), which I musically do not really care for, but they don't hurt the overall flow of the album, and it does prove that she might be more of a Madonna than a Cyndi Lauper.
near perfect album

Been a massive fan of Charli XCX for years, at least since True Romance. And while it feels as though this is already being championed as her finest work, it's business as usual for Charli as far as I'm concerned. Catchy, forward-thinking, naked, and fearless. There are a handful of highlights I'll be coming back to, for sure, and maybe subsequent listens will reveal more, but a few spins in, this is a uniformly excellent record from Charli.

As this site's #1 and possibly only Charli XCX superfan, I will say: this album showcases the best of Charli XCX's interpretation of the hyperpop genre and should be recognized along with the rest of her solid body of work as some of the best experimental artpop of this era.
The lyrics range from personal and introspective to max cringe, but what else would we expect from Charli? She has brought out the best musical ideas from AG Cook and Sophie. She complains about being "almost famous" and the lack of commercial success, but Crash was her most successful record and an absolutely phenomenal record but didn't have what made her sound so great from her "core" PC Music sound, this one has everything crash has (Talk Talk) and also the HIFN craziness on the instrumental like Club Classics. Here's hoping more people who like Lady Gaga's Chromatica, or Magdalena Bay's Mercurial World, to check out Charli XCX.
