Rating metrics: Help Outliers can be removed when calculating a mean average to dampen the effects of ratings outside the normal distribution. This figure is provided as the trimmed mean. A high standard deviation can be legitimate, but can sometimes indicate 'gaming' is occurring. Consider a simplified example* of an item receiving ratings of 100, 50, & 0. The mean average rating would be 50. However, ratings of 55, 50 & 45 could also result in the same average. The second average might be more trusted because there is more consensus around a particular rating (a lower deviation).
(*In practice, some albums can have several thousand ratings)

This album is rated in the top 1% of all albums on BestEverAlbums.com. This album has a Bayesian average rating of 79.8/100, a mean average of 78.5/100, and a trimmed mean (excluding outliers) of 80.0/100. The standard deviation for this album is 16.7.

Good album with great moments, for me sounds like Black Sabbath with added a lot of distortion, but with less interesting song structures and lyrics.

Kyuss sounds like the missing link between Alice in Chains and Tool. Demon Cleaner def sounds very proto-Tool with its soft, enchanting vocals and the song gaining tension as it goes along.

An interesting, unique and engaging listen that has an absolutely phenomenal side 1 but does slow down as it approaches the end. That first side is absolutely brilliant, every single song is amazing and they drag you straight into the music and engulf you with their sound. It is raw, gritty and fuelled with power which is mainly due to the instrumentation. The sound they have created feels so dark and atmospheric and it is so much fun to experience as their passion oozes out of the record. Instrumentally, it is fantastic throughout as well with the guitar work being the highlight for me. They make the guitar sound so heavy and thick which creates this suspenseful tone and makes us constantly questioning what is coming next. The performance on drums deserves a mention as well as it is phenomenal. Overall, a dark and moody album that gives you no real time to breathe and would be right up amongst the best of the best if it wasn't for that slow run in the second half.

Side A is pretty fantastic. Side B is pretty boring.

A great album- being a fan of QUOTSA an easy a lovable listen. Can see where Homme's roots came from.

Still incredibly underrated, Josh Homme's best work along with SFTD. Complete classic in and without the constrains of the genre, one of definitive underground releases of the 90s.

The definitive stoner rock release and the ultimate collection of desert inspired riffage and themes create one of the best masterpieces from the 90s.

Some of Josh Homme's best work. While for the most part the stoner rock genre is just retreading what Black Sabbath did decades ago, there are a few very creative bands in the genre, this being one of them. Asteroid, Supa Scoopa and Mighty Scoop, Space Cadet, and Whitewater are my favorites, but all the songs are good.
