Greatest Obscure Albums By Top BEA Members part 1(1-100) ratings
Average Rating = (n ÷ (n + m)) × av + (m ÷ (n + m)) × AVwhere:
av = trimmed mean average rating an item has currently received.
n = number of ratings an item has currently received.
m = minimum number of ratings required for an item to appear in a 'top-rated' chart (currently 10).
AV = the site mean average rating.

Rating metrics:
Outliers can be removed when calculating a mean average to dampen the effects of ratings outside the normal distribution. This figure is provided as the trimmed mean. A high standard deviation can be legitimate, but can sometimes indicate 'gaming' is occurring. Consider a simplified example* of an item receiving ratings of 100, 50, & 0. The mean average rating would be 50. However, ratings of 55, 50 & 45 could also result in the same average. The second average might be more trusted because there is more consensus around a particular rating (a lower deviation).
(*In practice, some charts can have several thousand ratings)
This chart is rated in the top 1% of all charts on BestEverAlbums.com. This chart has a Bayesian average rating of 95.4/100, a mean average of 98.1/100, and a trimmed mean (excluding outliers) of 98.1/100. The standard deviation for this chart is 3.8.

I loved looking at this chart - what a wonderful concept. Thanks for taking the time to do the research and then to put the chart together..
Great idea for a chart and a great source of “new to me” music. Thanks for pulling it together steppenwolf
Awesome premise for a chart. Made some additions to the wishlist!!
Thanks for your comments Nick. No I didn't know that about Baby Lemonade.
The reason I'm sticking to my rules for this chart is that what I might think is obscure someone else might not, and vice versa. So the Beatles, and Dylan, stay in, as certain albums by them are in very few members charts.
Hey man,
I like it. Cool idea, although I have to say that some of the entries are not that obscure. You may want to dig some lesser known entries from the BEA member's chart.
Thanks for including my obscure "Baby Lemonade" album. Do you know they were Arthur Lee's "backing band prior to his incarceration in 1996, and after his release from prison in 2001 until his death in 2006"?
Check-out this rendition of Love's "Signed DC" on YouTube - don't miss the kids at the end :)

Peace,

Some of the albums/artists on this chart might be a surprise, even the Beatles show up on part two of the chart, and Bob Dylan in this one. However I'm sticking to the rule of how many charts an album appears in, no matter how well known the artist is. I have just checked the Modest Mouse entry and it is still the album in the least number of charts in that members top 100.
Cool idea for a chart especially since you added one of mine a while back. Confused why Lonesome Crowded West by Modest Mouse is on here. Highly ranked in 97.
What an excellent idea for a chart! Thank you for posting. And now, of course, I have a new list of albums to investigate...
