Jason Isbell is one of, if not the best songwriter of the past 20 years. He can tell such a great story in so few words. He has written some of the best loves songs (Flagship, If We Were Vampires) and some the saddest songs (Elephant, Yvette) and has manages to be cheesy or overly poetic. He just uses everyday language to tell great stories.
