Rating metrics:
Outliers can be removed when calculating a mean average to dampen the effects of ratings outside the normal distribution. This figure is provided as the trimmed mean. A high standard deviation can be legitimate, but can sometimes indicate 'gaming' is occurring. Consider a simplified example* of an item receiving ratings of 100, 50, & 0. The mean average rating would be 50. However, ratings of 55, 50 & 45 could also result in the same average. The second average might be more trusted because there is more consensus around a particular rating (a lower deviation).
(*In practice, some tracks can have several thousand ratings)
This track is rated in the top 2% of all tracks on BestEverAlbums.com. This track has a Bayesian average rating of 86.2/100, a mean average of 84.8/100, and a trimmed mean (excluding outliers) of 86.4/100. The standard deviation for this track is 16.9.

Not a fan of the singing here which is a shame as the music is great.
For some strange reason, this song works. Coldplay seems to always try to make you cry, but this song is the only one where it really works for me. Not because of the lyrics, but because the music is great, really great.
I have mixed feelings on this song. Lyrically, it's painfully corny, but musically, it's great.
It's good for high school leaving parties but then it just becomes hella annoying. The ending is pretty good but weak lyrics overall.
It's a great song, maybe because it's different to the rest of the album and the rest of colplay's songs so far and that's something which you don't find in X+Y, which, for most of the rest, is the ugly sister of "A rush of Blood..."
the falsetto, um, ew
It's funny the one review on this song mentions the vocals. But I think they quite suck. Chris Martin doesn't hit a falsetto delicately or in tune, and it's magnified when it's Al Qaeda (sorry, what's the word for singing without accompaniment)... brain freeze
Anyway, I write about this song, because it's the one coldplay song that actually hits me at a higher level (a level that actually moves me).
I agree with the previous review about the guitar. It's funny because it's only two notes I think. But I like it a lot too. Can I say best two notes ever? When I learn how to play guitar, on my first lesson I want to learn that ending, and then I can come away being able to play something powerful.
I can just see Chris Martin being hit by the music as the drums come in... hehe
This is why music criticism is tough and pointless sometimes. Because if you told me those two notes plus a cheezy refrain about a tear stream down your face made for a rather weak ending, I woukdn't disagree with you at all. But for me creates quite a goose pimply experience. My favorite coldplay moment.
Oh... a capella (sp) is the word I was searching for before (not al qaeda). For about 5 minutes I couldn't think of that. lol
Absolutely beautiful
A masterpiece, what else can I say? It's absolutely beautiful. The vocals, guitar, piano, drums. A feel montage.
