Rating metrics:
Outliers can be removed when calculating a mean average to dampen the effects of ratings outside the normal distribution. This figure is provided as the trimmed mean. A high standard deviation can be legitimate, but can sometimes indicate 'gaming' is occurring. Consider a simplified example* of an item receiving ratings of 100, 50, & 0. The mean average rating would be 50. However, ratings of 55, 50 & 45 could also result in the same average. The second average might be more trusted because there is more consensus around a particular rating (a lower deviation).
(*In practice, some tracks can have several thousand ratings)
This track is rated in the top 1% of all tracks on BestEverAlbums.com. This track has a Bayesian average rating of 88.9/100, a mean average of 88.5/100, and a trimmed mean (excluding outliers) of 89.4/100. The standard deviation for this track is 11.8.

Wow, just an amazing opener. Full of menace.
Watcher of the Skies is an unbelievable album opener, setting the stage for Foxtrot to be the apocalypse of a play that it is.
While it’s not jazz fusion in the traditional sense, Watcher boasts sensibilities of both rock and jazz at the height of their respective genres with unique syncopation, pounding unison rhythms, and some of Peter Gabriel’s most Gabriel-esq lyrics.
This opener sets the stage. We are in for a ride. I love the build-up and how it explodes. Keys and drums are especially top-notch.
Simply fantastic. One of the best Genesis songs ever and an incredible way to open the album. There might not be a more iconic use of the mellotron in progressive rock than in those opening minutes. Then the way it builds into the lyrics before finally exploding... genius. Keep an ear out for Hackett's guitar and Collins' percussion too. Just incredible in every way imaginable.
A pulsing, brooding track with some very odd rhythms and drum tracks. And of course one of the most iconic uses of mellotron in rock music.
What. An. Opener. One of the best opening segments of any form of entertainment ever.
