One of my absolute favorite songs of all time. The tensions that builds from those strings, those sumptuous vocals (and indeed the lyrics too), and how it all climaxes in that majestic, spellbound ending.
Bush conceptualises themes of growing up into adulthood and child-parent relations into a glorious, triumphant and ever-building baroque masterpiece.
This is the crux of Bush's talent; hints of pop, with a huge variety of influences, drawn together by her innate ability to make experimental music feel wholly accessible, and finished off with beautifully told story found in the lyrics.
