Rating metrics: Help Outliers can be removed when calculating a mean average to dampen the effects of ratings outside the normal distribution. This figure is provided as the trimmed mean. A high standard deviation can be legitimate, but can sometimes indicate 'gaming' is occurring. Consider a simplified example* of an item receiving ratings of 100, 50, & 0. The mean average rating would be 50. However, ratings of 55, 50 & 45 could also result in the same average. The second average might be more trusted because there is more consensus around a particular rating (a lower deviation).
(*In practice, some tracks can have several thousand ratings)

This track is rated in the top 2% of all tracks on BestEverAlbums.com. This track has a Bayesian average rating of 84.4/100, a mean average of 83.7/100, and a trimmed mean (excluding outliers) of 84.7/100. The standard deviation for this track is 12.4.

Haunting song. The guitar is absolutely gorgeous. The subject matter is very dark but I absolutely love the lyrics. Atrocities such as the Moors murders need to be discussed, and to me this is done in good taste and with utmost respect to the families involved. "Manchester, so much to answer for"

Allegedly the first song they ever wrote.

What a way to begin a magical 5-year journey.

Suffer Little Children is beautifully disturbing and dark. 'Like' seems to be the wrong way to describe it. Marr's melancholy and almost ironic guitar work has as much creepiness in it as Morrissey's repetition of "Manchester; so much to answer for" does.
In the context of the album, it's the only way their debut could have closed. I see it almost as an after-credits scene, with the tone implying that while this album is coming to a close, 'The Smiths' are only just getting started.
