So calculated and precise. The epitome of generic, sexually charged alternative rock, oozing a bluesy pretentious that it earns right from the get-go with that Tracy Island reference. So many other bands have tried to make this exact song, sometimes spending whole albums to do so, and yet here are the Arctic bloody Monkeys swinging far lower than they ever have just to show everyone else how to do it.
There isn't a single ounce of heart or soul in R U Mine, but to deny it of the passion that has clearly gone in to this masterclass of chart-topping genericism is impossible when it sounds this damn good. The ultimate hit of reliable dopamine.
