Rating metrics: Help Outliers can be removed when calculating a mean average to dampen the effects of ratings outside the normal distribution. This figure is provided as the trimmed mean. A high standard deviation can be legitimate, but can sometimes indicate 'gaming' is occurring. Consider a simplified example* of an item receiving ratings of 100, 50, & 0. The mean average rating would be 50. However, ratings of 55, 50 & 45 could also result in the same average. The second average might be more trusted because there is more consensus around a particular rating (a lower deviation).
(*In practice, some tracks can have several thousand ratings)

This track is rated in the top 4% of all tracks on BestEverAlbums.com. This track has a Bayesian average rating of 81.8/100, a mean average of 82.0/100, and a trimmed mean (excluding outliers) of 82.8/100. The standard deviation for this track is 14.6.

I sort of knew when I first heard this track that this was the end, pretty much of Genesis. It evokes all the great moments watching and following this band. I think this may be played on the 2021 tour purely for that reason.

Probably the prettiest and most poetic song on the album. Themes of nostalgia and final-ness are omnipresent in the opening ambient section, which is quite perfect considering that this was the final song on the final album with Phil Collins. The middle instrumental harkens back on Genesis' progressive days with extended keyboard solos from Banks and guitar fills from Rutherford: once again perfect for the message Fading Lights conveys. By the time the ambient reprise is over, you may feel a little misty-eyed. It may not be a stone-cold classic, but this was a really good way for the Phil Collins-led era of Genesis to come to an end.

The last half of this song (extended instrumental) is a great way for Genesis to go out. I know they released one more album with Ray Wilson, but does it really count?
