Nice try Gary, but Stained Class and Killing Machine from Judas Priest, Live and Dangerous from Thin Lizzy, Powerage from AC/DC and Jazz from Queen are all hard rock/heavy metal albums that came out the same year as VH's debut and kick the shit out of it.

I beg to differ. The Priest albums are good but lack solid anchors. Powerage is just another AC/DC album, just not as good as usual. Jazz is great but as always with Queen there are too many low moments. Van Halen on the other hand not only rocks from start to finish and sports a handful of strong go-to tracks. It also delivered a previously unheard sound that changed heavy metal history. It's the album of the year.

A great album for the history of hard rock, with powerfull heavy tracks like
"Atomatic Punk", "Ain't talk about love" and "On Fire".
Definetely a much greater album than Queen - "Jazz"!!!
