I'm with those who prefer Pink Moon. I really have to be in the mood for Nick Drake, but when I'm in the mood he's always just right.

Love this album almost as much as Pink Moon.

And, as CellarDoor said, it's amazing for a debut album!

Same here. I used to hang out with a guy whose second favorite artist was Nick Drake, so naturally the music got passed my way. At first, I only dug Pink Moon, and found this one a little too orchestrated and perhaps, slick. But Nick Drake is one of those artists, in which the more one listens to him, the more one appreciates his whole catalog. He's got one of the best catalogs of any artist ever. Anyways, yeah. Five Leaves Left is beautiful.

Yeah, three studio albums in a catalog, and all of them great, for an artist that's something to die for.

something I didn't know before, which I found interesting, in Bryter Layter (Drake's second album) "Drake was accompanied by part of the British folk rock group Fairport Convention and John Cale from The Velvet Underground, as well as Beach Boys musicians Mike Kowalski and Ed Carter." (from Wikipedia)

For me "Bryter Layter" is the perfect Nick Drake album. Still, of course all his albums have great songs; also the posthumous "Tine of No Reply" and "Made to Love Magic".

On "Five Leaves Left" favourites are "Cello Song", "Time Has Told Me" and "River Man"

Congratulations! Applause The money didn´t go to waste. For my part, I picked it to my 1960's top 100 list.

They certainly didn't! I'm pretty much an amateur when it comes to music (I'm just 16 and I'm planning to live long, so I don't feel like I need to know every single album ever released already), so it might not be a huge triumph that it made my top 100 overall chart. Still, it did and think it'll stay there for a long time. Nick Drake is a wonderful man! Smile
