I've bought remasters by U2, Sprinsteen, and the Beatles that I've enjoyed and thought worth it.

The only remasters I recall being disappointed with so far are the ones done on the Pearl Jam albums.

Cure, Depeche Mode and Radiohead are the only reissue I upgraded. All other remasters were first purchase (Echo and the Bunnymen, Triffids etc.)

the RIAA has taken enough of my money converting tapes to CDs... i'm good with the albums i have. anything new i generally buy on MP3.

Amazon surprised me the other day when they sent me, for free, the MP3s for all the CDs I bought from them in the past!

as much as I want to say it doesn't matter and I can't tell the difference, I think I can and I tend to enjoy remasters. how much of that is placebo effect, I have no idea.

but if the remastered version price isn't that different from the original, I'll buy it
