Don't agree. Plays are written to be performed onstage and involve much more than a writer and a reader. Poetry and novels involve a writer and a reader.

Plays classically are poetry, to be performed or sung, whilst novels and short stories are prose to be strictly read. I'm not sure we even disagree here.

Bump, because this thread is probably as good a place as any, I'm going to be on the road a fair bit over the next few months so I'm loading up on (e)books and I'm just looking for recs. Throw anything my way!

Right now I'm reading The Complete Stories of Flannery O'Connor and William Carlos Williams' epic poem Paterson. Recommend both of them. Especially for long journeys. Smile

Also, if you're looking for something free and potentially terrible, I could send you and early ebook of what will hopefully be a finished version of my first novel Anxious

Cheers for the recs! That sounds pretty cool actually, I'd love to have a read of it sometime if you're comfortable sharing it, could be the start of great things! Cool

I'd have to know what you enjoy out of prose to even give a recommendation from my pool.

Honestly anything goes, but for reference my most recent reads include On The Map by Simon Garfield, dealing with the development and history of mapmaking and cartography, Thirty One Nil by John Montague, about the worlds weakest footballing nations and their bid to qualify for the FIFA World Cup, the entire collection of Brian Azzarello's comic book series, 100 Bullets and one of my favourite novels, Blood Meridian by Cormac McCarthy, so make of that what you will, I'm pretty happy to give anything a shot though that may grip my attention.
