Can't really speak with any authority on American police but all I will say is that not a week goes by when I don't see a new video on youtube/ebaums about American cops. Either tasering pensioners, pepper spraying peaceful protesters, shooting at people for driving offences, pulling a shotgun out in front of protesting students the list goes on.
These are the sort of incidents which would cause a scandal in the UK, heads would roll, inquiries would be launched etc. but they barely seem to cause a stir in America.
Not having a go and my anecdotal evidence is pretty useless but the frequency these videos appear is pretty shocking.
