On a slightly unrelated note to the argument at hand, could we get some sort of function to tell us what nation the flags by peoples names are from? Perhaps scrolling over them will reveal the nation's name, or have it posted in text on the person's profile page, or something. I swear I'm not a full on geographic retard, I'm just not familiar with flags outside of western Europe.
And back to the argument at hand, I'm all for the great nation of Texas having it's own artists. Screw the other states.

The answer is in your post - Scotland is absolutely a nation. It is not a sovereign state. If we base charts on nations, Scotland should have it's own entry. If we base it on sovereignty, we should not.
Don't argue the definition of nation. You're wrong. Your point is about sovereign states.
Funny thing is, I agree with Naples base sentiment. If we open it up to Scotland, do we need a chart for the Basques? How about Quebec? Maybe we should limit it to sovereign states...?
I'm not really hung up about this either way. _________________ Finnegan was super bad-ass.

I think it's fine the way it is but I really don't care either way.

They are NOT members of the United Nations. They are not sovereign states. They are not nations. _________________ Top 100 Greatest Music Albums by RFNAPLES

They are not sovereign states.
They are nations, a nation is a group of people who share a common language, ethnicity, culture etc etc. _________________ She's dead, wrapped in plastic.

Naples, wikipedia will not be able to give you a good grasp on the issue of nationality in the UK.
To the original question, I don't actually think it's necessary. I'm not against it but I don't think it's really that important either, if you want to know more specifically where an artist is from then you can look it up somewhere else. _________________ Shut up mate you're boring!

Use that all you like. The UN is actually improperly named, given it's purpose.
A nation is a group of people with shared culture, language, etc... They don't need a government or borders. Essentially, they don't need sovereignty.
Can't you ever concede something? I actually did agree with your main point. _________________ Finnegan was super bad-ass.

While not putting myself on either side, I would like to point out the answer of such an arguement will matter greatly in future. There is bound to be a little less nation states by the end of the future and some states will have much different nationalities than what Scotland and England share right now.
However, we could have a few decades pass until such a thing is worth noting.

Ask your PM or Queen. They are not recognized as nations by the United Nations or the National Olympic Committee. Yes they may be or have been an ethnic group, but not currently a nation. I think the UN and NOC might have dealt with this issue more than the BEA. _________________ Top 100 Greatest Music Albums by RFNAPLES
