Laura Marling - A Creature I Don't Know |
I had heard her debut when it first came out and hated it,the sound wasn't for me.Since then a lot of 'contemporary folk' acts have come along and I never really gave them a chance beyond a few first listens, mainly due to how awful M&S are and the fact that none of the albums I listened to were very good. The whole 'scene' struck me as insincere and manufactured and it really but me off. When you gave me this album I dreaded it,but to my surprise it was actually quite good.I'm not gonna lie and say that the whole feel and sound of the album is for me,it isn't,but there is definitely something about her that draws you in and she has a beautiful voice.I will listen to this album a few more times,as for rating it,I would be doing a disservice to her and the album as it really isn't my thing.I can now say I am a fan of her though,so I'm sure you'll be happy about that

Tourist By St Germain from DLGGLD
The first track made me dread listening to this album. Usually I can appreciate repetitive tracks but there was really no atmosphere keeping my attention. I also found the vocal sample incredibly cliquey and the sax(?) rather underwhelming. However, the album was not as bad as the first track suggests it was going to be. I did like how some of the songs brought a separate and unique instrument in, it kept the album interesting even though I found the songs themselves uninteresting. The best tracks for me was the dubby "Montenegro bay spleen" and "sure thing"
65/100

I've not figured out how this thread works after four pages. Rather a remarkable feat.

It seemed to make sense in my head.
You make a suggestion to the person who most recently reviewed the suggestion they recieved.
But use it how you like, discovering new music is always a good thing.

IMO you recommend something to the last person who shared an album.
Reviewing an album shouldn't force one to listen/review the following recommendation, or else you are trapped in this thread forever.

In the spirit of the thread, for the K-ON fan....
I have two albums in mind so I'm not sure which to recommend. Both are Japanese and all-female... hmm.. I'm gonna break the rules. I'll recommend two albums and you can decide which one to listen/review (or both if you're super hardcore).

Afrirampo - Kore Ga Mayaku Da
..cuz you seem to be into immature Japanese nonsensical music. I consider this album to be legendary of sorts, but the general listener reaction seems polarizing.

Ni-Hao! - Gorgeous
..not the best thing ever IMO (although I still like it) but it's light-hearted, girly, a bit cartoonish, and catchy in a pop way without being explicitly "pop music". (after looking it up on RYM, this also appears to have polarizing responses)

Thanks Poe, I will for sure check out both of those albums. I pretty much have blind faith with your suggestions/tastes now because every album or artist you have talked about I have loved, especially Kazumoto Endo, merzbow and that good morning good night sound art album. _________________ Alt Right meme game on point
