Great list Charlie, though it does raise the question, should we allow graphic novels and other primarily image based works? (children's books etc.)

I think any work of fiction (or if we wanna do non-fiction too) should work just fine. Can't do a list without some Sendak.

Dante's "Divine Comedy"... I assume I can count it as fiction? Or do I need to take that to the Religion & Politics segment?

It's an Epic Poem, not sure how well it fits in but I'll leave that to Gabe. Of course, if we let it in we're opening the door for The Aeneid and Odyssey and such and I feel like including Antiquity works isn't really congruent with how fiction has been made since like, the 1700s.
As for graphic novels I'm not gonna be including any but that's just because of a lack of familiarity and preference, I guess it fits in fine enough.

Is it just novels or short story collections are eligible too? I think it'd be more organized and focused if we did only novels. _________________ "I feel like for the last two years there’s been sort of a sonic evolution happening and I’ve been experimenting more and more."

I'm personally for short story collections but I could understand leaving them out. That said if we're limiting it to JUST novels then I say take out graphic novels too.

Does that mean no Arthur or Berenstain Bears?

right now I'm kiiiinda leaning towards just having it be text-centric novels (so no graphic novels, short story collections, poetry anthologies, Bernstein Bears etc.) though I'm not sold on the idea to any great extent so feel free to argue your case and chances are you'll convince me

my only problem with including graphic novels is that the images tend to be just as if not more important than the text, and as such it seems odd to compare them to works that generally don't even include illustrations
