20. Maniac (for Joe Spinell's sick performance)

I'll double check later, but I'm 99% sure that this was #101.

I was lucky enough to catch Dead of Night on Turner Classic Movies today. Brilliant! It would have probably made my list.

Merci Hayden ! Great job Very Happy

So I'm 93% horrified, with just a few more I need to check off :

An American Werewolf in London
Dracula 1931
Coraline
The Ring Two
Dead of Night 1945
House of Usher (The Fall of the House of Usher) 1960
Dr Jekyll and Mr Hyde 1931

It's a great list, and as a huge Hitchcock fan, it's nice to see Psycho n°1.

I found a very clean YouTube copy of The Cremator. Just finished it. Amazing. Legitimately creepy and intriguing throughout. Thanks to everyone who helped get that on this list. It would have made my horror list and my 60s list no doubt. Now to find Tetsuo and I've finished the list.

Since Hayden is slacking here's the director breakdown:

Dario Argento - 4
John Carpenter, Wes Craven - 3
Alfred Hitchcock, Roman Polanski, George A.Romero, Tobe Hooper, Sam Raimi, James Wan, James Whale, David Cronenberg, Jacques Tourneur, Tod Browning. Darren Lynn Bousman, Hideo Nakata, James Wong, Mario Bava - 2

Bousman and Wong in particular look strangely out of place amongst such masters of the genre, especially when Fulci and Corman only had one each. I'd love to know what numbers 101-104 are so I can just kinda mentally make the list a little better, especially if there's another gem I haven't seen in that group. Wink

Not talking

I'm at a film fest this week and a bit booked on time... Anxious But thank you for the director count Smile I'll post more things soon.

Which reminds me, Personal Shopper would have definitely landed on my list. Saw it last night and thought it was fantastic. Easily one of my favourite films of the year so far.

Yeah I was just playing around. You go ahead with your bad self, all out doing cool stuff and what not. I'll just sit here and continue to extend my horror marathon (I've probably watched over 100 in under a month now) and contribute when I can. Twisted Evil

(I may be moving to a bigger, more cultured Floridian city very soon, so film festivals and concerts are about to finally become life)

Don't really care about the director count but Hayden has been slacking for years if he's 20 and still hasn't seen Alien and Jaws, lol.

Me too, still have a few horror leftovers from October I didn't get to. Still wish we had another week or two on the poll but it's all good. I'm sure there will be an update next October or the year after.

Anxious

I'll see them eventually.

In other news, Manchester By The Sea is pretty great Mr. Green

So what's next? 30s would be rad.

If we do scores or soundtracks that's cool, but I think they should be completely merged together. Meaning your Bernard Herrmann scores and your Rodgers and Hammerstein numbers and your Tarantino 70s playlists all get to go against each other. Or maybe that's a horrible idea. I don't know.

Also a best ever actors list would just be sick; or perhaps bring it down to top 50 actors and actresses and do both lists simultaneously. But 100 each over time sounds more appealing considering we're gonna be all over the place.

Ooookay Smile

I'm going to be a bit busy over the next few weeks... so I'm not 100% sure on when the next poll will be (I may post it sometime next week, and it'll have a longer deadline). It'll be Pre-1940 though. All of it. Due to the large amount of material, it might possibly a top 200 as well.
