Tainted Love
written by Ed Cobb

Marilyn Manson. A paretty logical progression from Soft Cell, if you think about it. The Manson version is from the 2001 soundtrack album

Not Another Teen Movie (Music From The ...us Artists

The original was not by Soft Cell, but from an American singer named Gloria Jones in 1964. Her version was the B side of the single "My Bad Boy's Coming Home" that was quite the failure.

This time I don't have to post multiple videos because three versions are here in one video. "How I Got Over" is a gospel classic written by Clara Ward. First in this video is Mahalia Jackson's cover from 1963. Next on the video is the original version by the song's writer, Clara Ward, from 1951. And the last one on the video is a live version by Aretha Franklin from 1972.

From the album

Hindu Love Gods by Hindu Love Gods

Raspberry Beret
written by Prince

Hindu Love Gods were a late night drinking studio project consisting of Warren Zevon, R.E.M.'s Peter Buck, Mike Mills and Bill Berry who were working on Zevon's album Sentimental Hygiene. The sessions were eventually released, and this Prince cover became a minor hit.

The original is from the Prince & The Revolution album Around The World In A Day (1985).

This is a unique and interesting cover. This is The Cox Family's version of "That's the Way Love Is" from 1996. This version was produced by Alison Krauss. I usually think of it as a Marvin Gaye song, but I just looked it up and found out the original version is by The Isley Brothers. The Cox Family usually sings country & bluegrass, not Motown, but I think it works.

And here's the original version by The Isley Brothers from 1967.

I actually don't care for the original version. I like the Marvin Gaye version from 1969 much better.

Easy Star All Stars make covers albums. Their 2006 album, Radiodread, is a cover of Radiohead's OK Computer. Here's "Electioneering", written by the band.

The original, of course, is from the 1997 Radiohead album:

This is my favorite version of "Don't Let the Sun Catch You Crying". I think this is far and away the most beautiful version of the song I've ever heard. It's by Gloria Estefan and it's from 1994.

Here's the original version by Louise Cordet from 1964 and I personally don't like this version at all. I'm only posting it because it's the original version.

Nothing beats this one. One of my favorite '60s records ever.
