I love Suede, but I couldn't bring myself to add this album to my library because the album art was just so damn ugly. A lurid yellow to black gradient is one the worst things you can do, then there's the hideous typeface and the garish coloured people.
Shame after their previous two covers are so iconic.
EDIT: I just saw the Big Bear album cover and now I'm in absolute hysterics |
I agree with this, horrible cover! But I still like it in a way.. and don't forget it's got the best music from Suede behind it! _________________ "The Beatles, the greatest band known to mankind." - Bismah Mughal

Well, this album isn't actually all that good, but seriously who decided that this should be the album cover? It looks like a trapper keeper

well, often an album cover reflects its music, making a cover 'great' no matter how 'shitty' it is. There's two albums that come to mind as far as album covers that don't make sense for me:
these album images make no suggestion towards the music at all...

I'll agree that covers with a band member's face on it (or the face of a solo artist, if that's the case) have a level of pretentiousness to them. Off the top of my head, the only album that's done this that executed it well was The Bends, since Thom Yorke's face was edited onto the CPR doll really well, and it's not really meant to be the most noticeable thing about the cover.

What's wrong with the artists being depicted on the covers? They made the music so why not appear on the cover as well.
Anyway as Purple already mentioned Pink Moon

I didn't say it was pretentious for an artist to be on the cover, but like, when all the cover is is "OH HEY HERE'S MY FACE", it just comes across wrong for me. Not all covers that have done that are bad, but most are to me.
The Velvet Underground and Nico is a fucking awesome album cover, don't lie. Especially the original pressings where you could actually "peel" the banana peel away from it.
Also, all of the Pixies album covers suck except for Surfer Rosa. I honestly think they just genuinely did not give a shit about the covers for their albums because they were the fucking Pixies and that's all that really mattered.
