This is a great direction for her,

No it isn't for exactly all the reasons I've previous said. I'm not discounting the record has catchy songs (I basically mentioned that first off), I'm discounting the fact that these are not Taylor Swift songs, these are generic dance pop songs formulated to sell and chart. Are they catchy, inane, ridiculous pop songs: of course. But they have no integrity or cohesive regard for Taylor as a lyricist or as a musician. You can like the record but calling it a great direction is asking Taylor to strip away all of her integrity and identity in favor of sounds you like.

I think that it may be her most consistent(ly great) album to date, so of course I think that it's a great direction. Now, of course I love everything that she has put out, so I trust her to make great albums. I don't see her doing any wrong.

Also, guys, peep the new Logic! Fun stuff

Oh so much hate for Reflektor here. :'(
I'm okay with Vampire Weekend being the #1 but I like Reflektor, too.

i legitimately wanted to like it, but most of the songs are just really not very good imo. definitely their weakest album as far as i'm concerned. but i definitely think that there's been a quite obvious backlash against the band in the past couple of years, which i find sad if only because i still see funeral as one of the best indie rock albums of the past 15 years and i don't like to see them discounted entirely for that reason. then again, i could be imagining things.

I agree with this. I felt this way about Suburbs and Reflektor both. I legitimately wanted to like them, but they're boring. Funeral is a masterpiece.
