I'm afraid I'm gonna sit this one out. Combining all that just sounds to tough and rushed (an not rushed in a "I can't believe you threw that together so fast" way; more like "the doctor gave me three weeks to live so I'm gonna knock out skydiving and deep sea diving in one day"); plus there's no way I'm ranking The Passion of Joan of Arc or City Lights #2 at anything. I still look forward to seeing what y'all can throw together.
But back to the subject of horror films, I really wish I'd have seen Street Trash before now; I would have ranked it very very high.

You guys up for the 30's as their own poll then? |
I can only speak for badseed and myself, but yes '30s as their own poll. Totally. There is such a clear distinction between Silent Era and '30s cinema. One could make the case silent and sound cinema are different art forms. Combining them onto the same poll doesn't feel right. Doesn't make sense.

I've honestly only seen like 2 or 3 films from the 1920s and earlier. Of course I'm working on seeing more, but it wouldn't be fair for me to make a list relatively soon for all decades pre-40s that only has 30s films. I'd rather either sit out the 20s or work on compiling a small list for that one than try to combine it with the 30s. So count me as a vote for 30s as its own poll.

Exactly. Once you get the 30s done, then it makes sense to put the rest (pre-1930) together as a silent era list, although of course sound films will be eligible, it took a couple years for them to figure out how to make good talkies so there shouldn't be anymore than 1 or 2 remote possibilities. I can understand you possibly being tired of doing the same kind of poll over and over again but we really only have two left when it comes to retro time periods. Like he said, there's just such a major difference between the silent era and 30s, more noticeable than any other decade transition. Plus it just makes us look way more legit.

So yeah, if we're doing 30s I've got a Top 150 that's a little dated but still looks like a good starting point. Check it out if anyone needs some recs (though apparently I chose the wrong It Happened One Night).
Oh yeah. The local pawn shop dropped their price on Blu-ray's from $5 to $3 and I've been trying to build my horror collection back up. So I got Scream. And it was fucking good. I get it now. Sorry for hating on it before.
