Twas the month before Christmas
When all through our land,
Not a Christian was praying
Nor taking a stand.
See the PC Police had taken away,
The reason for Christmas – no one could say.
The children were told by their schools not to sing,
About Shepherds and Wise Men and Angels and things.
It might hurt people’s feelings, the teachers would say
December 25th is just a ‘Holiday‘.
Yet the shoppers were ready with cash, checks and credit
Pushing folks down to the floor just to get it!
CDs from Madonna, an X BOX, an I-pod
Something was changing, something quite odd!
Retailers promoted Ramadan and Kwanzaa
In hopes to sell books by Franken & Fonda.
As Targets were hanging their trees upside down
At Lowe’s the word Christmas – was nowhere to be found.
At K-Mart and Staples and Penny’s and Sears
You won’t hear the word Christmas; it won’t touch your ears.
Inclusive, sensitive, Di-ver-si-ty
Are words that were used to intimidate me.
Now Daschle, Now Darden, Now Sharpton, Wolf Blitzen
On Boxer, on Rather, on Kerry, on Clinton!
At the top of the Senate, there arose such a clatter
To eliminate Jesus, in all public matter.
And we spoke not a word, as they took away our faith
Forbidden to speak of salvation and grace
The true Gift of Christmas was exchanged and discarded
The reason for the season, stopped before it started.
So as you celebrate ‘Winter Break’ under your ‘Dream Tree’
Sipping your Starbucks, listen to me.
Choose your words carefully; choose what you say
Shout MERRY CHRISTMAS, not Happy Holiday! _________________ Top 100 Greatest Music Albums by RFNAPLES Bubbling Under The Top 100 Greatest Mus...y RFNAPLES
You are totally over-blowing this "war on Christmas" b.s.
For the last time: AMERICA. IS NOT. A CHRISTIAN NATION.
Removing "Jesus" from public institutions is how it should be. Separation of church and state. _________________ A dick that's bigger than the sun.
Despite being somewhat outspoken on a stand against religion I support you on this one Naples. The politically correct neutralization of a public holiday is nonsense and I'll keep saying Merry Christmas rather than Happy Holidays until the day I die, for two reasons:
1. It is part of the cultural heritage of this country and there is good reason to keep traditions that do not cause any harm. To remove it because someone could feel left out would lead to a society where nothing is allowed.
2. People tend to go down the route of forbidding to battle inequalities between races, genders and cultures and it is plain stupid and counterproductive. Discrimination is in the intention of what is said and done, not in the words themselves and not until black (and politically correct white) people stop being upset every time they hear the word negroe will the battle against racial unequality between blacks and whites be won. The same goes in this case. If a muslim or buddhist or what-have-you gets upset or feels left out because they hear the word Christ or see a manger set the correct response is not to remove them altogether but to teach these easily upset souls that they'll need to learn to live with it.
No Christ has been removed from our textbooks, as if he didn't exist. We re-write history often-like they do in communist countries. To be fair, you won't find Buddha or Muhammad either.
1. Neither Siddhartha Gautama nor Jesus Christ were significant historical figures during their lives. To teach about them or their lives would be generally irrelevant, as nothing they did actually directly affected history, only the actions of their followers many centuries later have had any relevance. Jesus and Buddha are, as the figures themselves, historically irrelevant for the most part.
2. Muhammad WAS a significant historical figure during his life, but most North American schools don't spend a lot of time teaching middle eastern history, so he probably wouldn't come up anyway unless you were taking a specific class. _________________ A dick that's bigger than the sun.
