Yes I have. But he didn't write his version of who he thought Jesus was until 1820. That is where I think the confusion about him is. Personally, for what I'm saying and claiming about the founding Fathers is still valid for using Jefferson. Beacause, as far as Jefferson I'm only concerned with 18th. century quotes and events during the founding of the United States. What Jefferson believed, or the change of heart he later had in his life, in the 19th. century, has no bearing on my overall statement. _________________ .

First I just want to say I got carried away before. I got a bunch of bad shit going on at this moment. And I personally respect and admire Reagan who I think was one of our greatest Presidents. I don't know where you got that quote from Jefferson? Everything I have discovered about Thomas Jefferson leads me to firmly believe that he was in fact a Christian. I don't know what to think about this Johnny? It's weird because like I said, I found quotes from Einstein that made it sound like he believed in God. |
I was a kid during Reagan's administration. I happen to respect him as well. I just don't really think he was the great conservative/big government opponent that people make him out to be. He talked a big game about it (like all politicians do) but his record isn't exactly what it gets made out to be is all I am saying. In retrospect after studying his administration I think he did some bad things but overall I think he was the right President at the right time. And definitely one of the major reasons for the fall of communism in the Soviet Union.
As far as Jefferson goes I am not stating he didn't have a belief in A God. I believe he probably did. I am just saying he wasn't a Christian. He did believe in Jesus and his teachings but he like many other of the founding fathers (Ben Franklin, Thomas Paine, James Madison to name a few) didn't believe him to be the son of God, but only a great philosipher. I am sure the Jefferson quotes I cited are readily available through a google search.
"The Jefferson Bible," where he omits all mentioning of miracles and of Jesus as a divine being, as it is called is widely written about. He stated his wanting to do this writing as early as 1794.
Lastly I will say I will also try not to get carried away and keep it to a civilized argument. I realize that religion is always a hot button issue and can get really heated but I can definitely keep level headed and will do so.
I hope whatever bad shit is going on in your life gets taken care of in a positive way on your end.

Very interesting Naples and I understand what your showing here. I was going to try to get this information also but you have saved me a lot of time. I was just going to point out, not trying to be a pain, that your list adds up to 108.7% isn't that impossible?? _________________ .

See the source: "In the table above, some people have been counted more than once because they changed religious affiliation from one denomination to another." |
O.K. makes sense now. Like I said, I wasn't trying to be a pain or anything. But I know for me personally if I make even the slightest error, even though it really has nothing to do with the overall point I'm trying to get across, people will jump all over the flaw and never address the main topic and point of my post. That's why I stated that I know what you are saying. Good list Naples _________________ .
