I think Exit Music (For a Film) is the pure definition of what I was originally looking for in early Radiohead. It's so damn brooding and just listen to the intricacies going on here, it's pretty great.

I think Exit Music is OK Computer's best track by a mile.
And just another small question: are we including archival and/or live albums or not?

OK Computer works for me pretty much beginning to end, but I remember "Exit Music" was especially meaningful to me when I was in high school. Back then, the slow build rock song wasn't yet a cliché and it pretty much knocked my socks off.

So you're just talking about an album? It feels low key and I like this thread in a way. Tidy thread, I'll have to watch. 
Also seeing the albums in the rate your music 50, I see you will cover wide area.

When I first heard OK Computer in 1997, the only track that caught my attention on the first listen was "Electioneering". At the time, I was an alt rock devotee who mostly responded to banging, angst-ridden guitar rock. I still enjoy it, but now I think it's among the lesser tracks on the album.

Electioneering's possibly my favourite on the second side, although it's pretty close between that and Climbing up the Walls. To be honest, I've always though OK Computer's second half is a huge let down from the first.

That's sort of the thing about that record. At the time it didn't really sound like anything else at the time. And now, there's been so many musicians who grew up with that record that these ideas are far more common, and hearing OK Computer for the first time in 2014 becomes less meaningful.
I was 15 when OK Computer was released. We didn't have the internet and music blogs and what not to tell us what was cool. Teeangers in the US relied on shit like MTV, Rolling Stone and SPIN, so stuff like Spiritualized, Portishead, Godspeed were totally off the radar. Most of what was being played to the mainstream was Smash Mouth, No Doubt, 311, Foo Fighters, Sugar Ray, Stone Temple Pilots, Lenny Kravitz, so imagine that moment when the truly weird "Paranoid Android" video premieres on MTV in contrast to all of that stuff.
