This album is brilliant. I'd actually state that the first track is the best because of its humor (the 4th track also does brilliantly in regards to humor). However, every other songs ranges from pretty atmospheric (fair, smoke) to badass (kate, steven's last night) to heartfelt (brick, selfless). Ben folds' writing ability is what assists this album to reach the level it did. Also, can't talk about this album without mentioning the badass piano playing.

The one thing I remember about this album, other than my favorite songs, is the production. It has this clean studio quality about it, but it still feels loose and natural. It's like a pop Pavement. Anyway, I'm not in love with this, but it has some great highlights.

YESSSSSSSS
While I would say that this is BFF's second-best album, behind their debut, this album is fantastic. Obviously it has the huge, gut-wrenchingly beautiful hit "Brick", but it's got some other fantastic songs. The opening song is just fun (especially live), "Song For The Dumped" is great, "Battle Of Who Could Care Less", "Evaporated", beautiful stuff man. Just an absolutely fantastic album from one of my favorite people ever. If you dig this album, totally check out their debut, it's amazing, and even the Reinhold Messner album is really good, though it wasn't received well. _________________ 2023 Chart

Good album, although I LOVE The Autobiography of Reinhold Messner and only like this one. Still, Ben Folds / Ben Folds Five are great (and their newest album is pretty damn underrated).

Another album of the day I received by mistake from Columbia House and ended up keeping. Good album. The opener and Brick are my favorites, but I need to go back and listen to it. It has been awhile.
