The Creek Drank The Cradle by Iron & Wine
From A Basement On The Hill by Elliott Smith

I know it's a very old album but I bought Kind of Blue by Miles Davis last week as it seems to be rated very highly - I saw it on offer for 5 euro. It's a good album so far and there's a track on there called 'Flamenco Sketches' which isn't what I thought before hearing it (I must have been expecting some rasgueado or something Smile I'm trying to get into more different types of music so it's a nice change

Return to Cookie Mountain an YS from 2006 they are awesome in their own way.
And not that new:
Beautiful Freak by Eels from 1996, and didnt like it until the 5th listen. It is kind of grunge style, there is nothing new here, but still it's a good album.
Roseland NYC Live by Portishead from 1998, is another recent buy and I do like the songs better here than in their original studio albums.
The Colour of Spring by Talk Talk from 1986, what can I say "brilliant", maybe as good as Spirit of Eden.
And Does Humor Belong in Music by Frank Zappa from 1986 really really good, another great piece of art by this teacher.

NOTE: I am very strict about rating albums as masterpieces. Most "greatest albums of all time" aren't even close to masterpieces to me, but then again, I am a bit different in what I like than most...

Most recent buys:

The Marble Index-Nico.......amazing, a near-masterpiece. Beautiful haunting vocals surrounded by otherworldly instrumental barrages, both light and harsh. A strange album.

Free Jazz-Ornette Coleman.......a masterpiece. The full fledged birth of modern free jazz, and one of the most influential and important albums ever made. Jaw-dropping.

Bricolage-Amon Tobin.......the greatest "jungle/drum and bass" album ever?

Cyborg-Klaus Schulze........one of the most incredible electronica albums ever. Brilliant use of drones, space, and phase effects, as well as deft inclusions of orchestral pieces. Not quite the monumental masterwork Irrlicht is, but still an indispensable follow-up.

A few more new records all from 2007:

Explosions in the Sky - Suddenly I Miss Everyone A brilliant album. from the Godspeed You... line, there are no words in it, but they just don't need it, the emotion in it is something else.

Cinematic Orchestra - Ma Fleur .....It is a real good recording, although it doesn't compares to their first albums.

Tomahawk - Anonymous.... This one is pure gold. It is a collection of Native American songs with hard rock in it.

Gogol Bordello - Super Taranta.... A few good songs with a lot of fillers.

Last 7 purchases, all relatively recent:

Velvet Underground & Nico - 5/5 masterpiece
The Queen is Dead - 4/5 Great album with a few especially charming tracks
Return to Cookie Mountain - 4.5./5 One of my favourites of the decade. Didn't grab me at first, but once it sunk it's teeth into me it did not let go.
Meddle - 4.5/5 Nearly Pink Floyd's most underrated album (that distinction goes to Piper at the Gates of Dawn).
Astral Weeks - 5/5 One of the greatest all time acheivements in Rock.
Zen Arcade - 5/5 Amazing punk album
Lorca - 5/5 beautiful.
