CLPPNG
It's not amazing, but it's good and kept my interest throughout. That's more than what I can say about the (barely) decent Enta Da Stage.

Enta Da Stage for me.
CLPPNG is an interesting album, but it isn't very enjoyable. I've listened to it twice and have no desire to go back to it, even though it had some original ideas.

Enta da Stage is a lot more entertaining overall, while Clipping is a poor execution of a good idea.

CLPPNG isn't even clipping's best album - they had an interesting idea (though not much more) which ran out of steam by the time this record came around. Enta da Stage is an absolute classic, featuring raw boom-bap beats but, more importantly, an extended glimpse into the life and rhymes of Buckshot at his absolute best, taking the baton from Kool G. Rap and running with it, using his rugged rhymes, an energetic flow, his command of internals and alliteration, and a nonchalant, almost smug nihilism to prove himself one of the best rappers coming out of New York at the time. Seriously, this record is only a couple of notches below 36 Chambers in terms of quality, being cut from a very similar cloth, and it's disappointing to see how little love it's getting here. _________________ 2021 in full effect. Come drop me some recs. Y'all know what I like.

that moment when skinny has promoted your album better than you ever will
I'm not really sure what I can add, but yeah this album is really among my absolute favorites albums ever, and Who Got Da Props is my favorite hip-hop track of all time.

I really dig BOTH these albums after a couple of spins. Looking forward to hearing Clipping's debut since I think CLPPNG's experiments with industrial & noise rock is really interesting.

Listening to CLPPNG earlier this year left me rather unimpressed. A few good tracks, but it's not even close to the best hip hop album of 2014.
Enta Da Stage isn't totally my style, but it's easily the superior album here _________________ http://jonnyleather.com
