How do we know what the "seminal thoughts of the masters" were if there are so many "mistakes"? You can't pick and choose what was and wasn't a mistake randomly, based on what YOU perceive as right.
Indeed, if you're going to cherrypick which bits you believe in and which you don't then what's the point at all?

Anytime a politician throws around bible quotes, or someone uses a bible passage to present 'proof' in an argument, I think of Leviticus... and this letter to Dr. Laura.

You see once you start choosing to disregard some parts of your religion you don't agree with, you forfeit the right to preach to anybody about observing any other part of said religion they may not agree with, else make yourself a hypocrite. Alot of religious folk don't seem to get this.
Most people's religion nowadays is merely their personal interpretation of that religion and warrants no special respect from anybody. _________________ Shut up mate you're boring!
If you are referring to organized religions, I agree. But I think organized religions are far removed from their founding precepts. At the core of most religions is the golden rule. If organized religions followed it we wouldn't have religious wars, crusades or jihads.

Believe nothing, no matter where you read it, or who said it, no matter if I have said it, unless it agrees with your own reason and your own common sense. - Lord Buddha
True. And also a strong argument against all religions.
