Post subject: Bands that everyone seems to love that you can't stand
Bands/artists that everyone seems to really highly rate and love that you can't really see the attraction. Those bands that are constantly raved about that just never really hit it for you in particular.
My one has to be Nirvana, which is odd because I was pretty much raised on grunge by my Mum (love Pearl Jam, Soundgarden etc.) but growing up, I have just never got the hype around Nirvana whatsoever, Nevermind is the most bland and average album in my opinion and In Utero is just way TOO grunge if you know what I mean? _________________ overall / 2017 / spotify
Lots of bands like this, but I can usually understand why other people like what they do when I don't. Still, there are some exceptions to this. I feel like Disclosure, Jamie xx, Porter Robinson, latter-day (2007-present) Radiohead are all acts that are typically enjoyed by people who don't actually like electronic music or at least don't like it beyond a very surface level. Deafheaven is the same for black metal. Honorable mentions go to most Beach House with dream pop, and most Death Grips for industrial music, though I like an album each from these two acts, where I uniformly dislike the output of the ones mentioned above.

I hear this a lot, but I don't understand how post-2007 Radiohead is "electronic music". While they do use some electronic elements, their music is still oriented around the typical rock band structure. _________________ follow me on the bandcamp.

i agree with that, which is part of the annoyance.
There's plenty of bands/musicians that I don't get the fuss over (like Nirvana, as you say) but I get why some people could enjoy them so much. The ones I actually can't understand why people rate them so much include..
Muse - Seriously I don't think I've met a single person irl that dislikes Muse, everyone thinks they're compositional geniuses. I don't understand how people don't laugh at them, they're so aloof and take themselves too seriously, when at the end of the day they're just a rock band. They're possibly even the biggest band in the world, yet so few people seem to step back and think it's all a bit silly.
Tame Impala - They get a tonne of attention on here and from critics, and I really don't get it. They're fine, but nothing special in my eyes. Psychedelic Rock music seems to get points for simply being Psychedelic Rock.
St. Vincent - Another internet favourite. She's a little left-of-field, but again, I can't see what puts her so ahead of everyone else.

I can't stand Drake. I want to like him, and I've tried over and over again, but I just really hate his music.
I don't hate Drake, but it just seems like if everyone else has 'it', he doesn't. Whenever I listen to his music I feel like I'm listening to a friend's new mixtape as a favour, while deep down I wish I was listening to Kendrick.
Does this count as an "Overrated/Underrated" thread? Oh well, it's been a while since I posted in one of those.
There are lots of other universally acclaimed artists I have fairly consistent contempt for, but many of those (Bob Dylan, Neil Young, Sigur Ros) at least have spectacular singles. That being said, I absolutely despise Bob Marley and John Williams and everything they stand for.
Bob Dylan... I just can't stand his voice in general. Every time I hear a song from him I picture Jimmy Fallon singing in one of his skits. Every critic likes him (specially Rolling Stone) and he has Beatles' status all over the internet, still... I cant get through 20 seconds of his singing. _________________ "Hurry Up, We're Dreaming"

Guess you hate weed then!? _________________ "I feel like for the last two years there’s been sort of a sonic evolution happening and I’ve been experimenting more and more."
