There are three essential Mary Chain albums...Psychocandy, Darklands and this which is a collection of early b-sides, EP tracks and of course their first single Upside Down in all it's feedback soaked glory.

Not quite as strong as Songs about Leaving but if you found that overwrought check this out. Great lo-fi production and a lot more stripped down than the at times overwhelming SAL. Some of Carissas Wierd's most beautiful moments.
A bunch of Elverum's friends in a cabin in the middle of the woods singing along to his particular journalistic confessionals. Like Lost Wisdom but a lot warmer. There's a sort of a "world's ended so fuck it let's sing along and cheer" vibe to the album that's really cute. Also, here's the best rendition of "I can't believe you actually died"
This one might be cheating since it's not on BEA (only Chihei's lesser known more field recording based album which is odd). Found this one on the /mu/ charts. One of my favourite drone albums ever. The perfect music to float too. It's bliss
One of the greatest soundtracks of all time. What happens when Murcof and Aphex Twin have a baby and the result is this dark electronic exploration into what it feels like to be hunted. Cracking stuff that everyone should check out.
Also something for those who like the classic 90s boom bap. The DITC people made a few classics and for me this stands up with best of those from Big L, Finesse, Diamond D. This is hard to get hold off though as never been reissued. A must hear if you like those artists.
One of my all time favorite hip hop albums, and a great rec for anyone who's into jazz-influenced hip hop.
Lord Finesse's The Awakening is also fantastic (and I just realized it needs to be added to the site). Listening to the album, you'll recognize a lot of beats from Mac Miller's early albums. ("Kool Aid and Frozen Pizza" is basically just Mac rapping over the entire backing track of "Hip 2 Da Game").
It's somewhat chill, yet pretty hardcore, lyrically. If you like 90s hip hop, check it out. Highlights include: Hip 2 Da Game, Food For Thought, and Flip Da Style.
Just added to the site what I consider to be Comet Gains best album. There's a real sadness, sense of loss to many of these songs. It actually feels like a concept album lyrically, dealing with the passing of youth as you grow older but still hanging around the scene you've grown up in, and the passing of relationships.
...anyway loads of really great tracks here, some of the more reflective moments very reminiscent of latter era Go-Betweens.
