My copy of Tigermilk came into the mail today and it gave me a download code for the album, but I just got back from the library with the cd. Do I import the cd or do I download the code? Is there any difference?

Well it depends on the quality of the download. That's Matador right? If im not mistaken their downloads are usually only in 128 or 196kbs or something low. I'd just do a high quality rip into VBR V0 or CBR 320kps. Just don't fuck it up and use the iTunes encoder for your rip.

This might sound like kinda shitty advice, but considering you've already paid for the album, I'd say just illegally download a 320kbps copy of it.
I've never used a download code in my life I must have 30 or so.... I've managed to give away 5, but for the most part no one I know really wants to use them As Frogger said, the quality the record labels supply is usually the iTunes zip unfortunately. It's probably better for the artist's sake that you're listening to a higher quality version of their work anyway.
Also, I'm not sure how your library works, but usually CD's are altered so you can't rip them. Check on that. _________________ Submit Your List for BEA's 2023 Film Poll!

does that even really do anything besides rip as an ALAC though? I mean I know it's apple's "we are so unique/special" filetype but it's still just as lossless right?

Nope.
I'm 90% sure it converts your music to 192kbps, if not lower.
EDIT: I'm thinking of the .wav conversion system. My mistake. _________________ Submit Your List for BEA's 2023 Film Poll!

The program just isn't made to perform 100% lossless rips of Cd's, it's made to be lightweight and user friendly. Ripping with iTunes will always leave at least a couple errors in your rip as opposed to a dedicated ripping software. Also it it'll just be a bitch if you ever want those files in something other than iTunes.

Is there a certain site I can do that at, I'm terrible at finding a legit place to download. Oh and importing cd's works just fine, a good portion of my collection comes from imported albums.
