Rolling Stone just made their list of best 80's albums, so I thought I'd post this.

I don't know what people think of Rolling Stone on here, but I don't think much of them. On the list they completely ignore Doolittle and The Queen Is Dead. Also London Calling is #1 for some reason Rolling Eyes . Mind you, there's a few albums on there from 1979 Confused

Opinions?

it's pretty shitty. If you just take the 80s albums from RS's greatest albums ever chart you'd get a better one. It also doesn't line up with that chart, several of the albums appearing later on the 80s chart popped up much earlier on the best ever chart; so there's some huge inconsistencies. I do like the inclusion of Blue Mask though

I though of that while reading the list, and agree (with both the statement and Lou Reed album). They might be planning to redo their top 500 albums this year though, cause of the redo song list last year made in 03, so it's a possibility. Maybe when they redo it the Joshua Tree & Appetite For Destruction will be a lot lower.

This list is pretty old. i'm pretty sure it came out in like 1990 or something like that. Anyways, i agree that it's pretty bad. I mean, come on. tunnel of love ahead of nebraska? 'the smiths' but no queen is dead? steel wheels? puuuuuuulllllleeeeease.
There are, however, a few good selections: the aformentioned blue mask, let it be, zen arcade, closer, remain in light etc. but still too much crap like janet jackson and def leopard for me to really take it seriously. it just kinda seems like they really werent paying to much attention to the whole thing, like how does someone put manage to put two albums from the 70s in an 80s album list. geez! Rolling Eyes

Ones I like:

East Side Story
1984
Dare!
Traveling Wilburys
Entertainment!
Closer
Speaking in Tongues
Peter Gabriel III
Nebraska
Eliminator
Kill 'Em All
Zen Arcade
Avalon
Back in Black
Rain Dogs
Let It Be
So
Born In The U.S.A.
Graceland
Remain in Light

London Calling

All things considered it could've been a lot worse. I'll vote "Okay".

Well most of the albums I hadn't even heard, and I've seen lists like this where I've only liked three or four picks. So in a relative sense it isn't bad.
