Solid album, mostly good tracks but it doesn't have the standout tracks the other four do. And Hungry For You is terrible. Ghost in the Machine is The Police's worst album. But the worst album from The Police is better than some more popular band's best.

Is it solipsistic in here or is it just me?

I'd say either this or Zenyatta Mondata is their worst album. Still, not a bad album, has some good tracks like Demolition Man and Every Little Thing She Does Is Magic, but it's just a slightly above average album.

Yeah, pretty average. Not something I'm crazy to go back to, but not bad either.

These are the tracks that I rated above average:
Spirits In The Material World
Every Little Thing She Does Is Magic
Invisible Sun
One World (Not Three)

I like the first three tracks.

I don't think The Police ever made one album that I love completely. The problem is the best of album essentially takes 2 tracks from each of the 5 albums, which leaves some good songs out. I think I could be happy without the individual albums if there were a best of that had my favourite 3 songs from each album.

Feel the same about all Queen albums (more or less). Queen albums are next to terrible, but I really do respect and appreciate them as musicians. Their hits are pretty solid and unique, but their albums... eh. I think they made a decade chart, but past definitely not a top 25 of anything. And I kinda feel that way about The Police and a lot of artists for that matter.

Which makes a strong case for including greatest hits albums in your lists. Queen's Greatest Hits Volume 1 is pretty great.

Actually...

I have this greatest hits, which isn't quite enough...

And this one is almost enough, but misses a few tracks I like...

And lastly this 2CD collection is just about right, but has some tracks I really don't like...

There's indeed some filler on every album of theirs but only one or two so I would really recommend to listen to their regular albums: all of them.

Filler tracks? I'll grant you a couple to a few on each album. Not fans of their albums? I guess. I love and cherish The Police and am a proud owner of all five of their albums, two of which make my overall, while I'm debating putting on a third one. Reggatta de Blanc is the shit. Their best album. I may never get tired of that album. Ghost in the Machine is their worst, but it's still better than most of the stuff I've listened to this decade.

Greatest hits albums are mostly absent from BEA users' overall charts. There are understandable reasons for that. I wish I saw them more often. It shows which artists a user likes, but either doesn't like enough to represent with a regular album, or they feel none of their albums are good enough. Perhaps with you, that's Queen or The Police. For me, it's Jim Croce. I like his regular albums but not enough to include any on my overall. However his greatest hits album is incredible for pulling the best tracks from each album and putting them in pretty cohesive order. I just cannot omit it from my overall.

Anyway, back to The Police. Yeah they were amazing.
