I'd agree with JRF--doggystyle is great.

don't make assumptions. I have heard of a lot of those people (madlib, pete rock). Entoducting is one of my favorites, and DJ Shadow is definitely the best at what he does.

I like rap, but it is not my favorite genre, and I wouldn't be surprised if most people know more artists than I do. But just because I don't mention an artist doesn't mean I don't know or like them, they're just not a favorite or I don't listen to them very much.

of course, i understand, like i would no very little about genres such as heavy metal, thrash metal and all that!

The Beastie Boys I have to say were one of the best in terms of expanding the sound of what rap could be. From License to Ill to Paul's Bountique, there's just so many different sounds, they really innovated what producers/DJ's use for tracks.
