Gross.
Will Biden follow suite? Seems like drone strikes on both sides haven't been used correctly.

Biden's a moderate Democrat, but if he wins, history's probably going to force him to be one of the most progressive presidents we've had. |
How are those cabinet positions making you feel? |
Like I'll be less likely to die of COVID. Like we'll be less likely to go into a great depression.
Biden's policy on climate change and environmental justice, if it gets passed, will be a massive progressive accomplishment. The biggest problem, as it was during the Obama administration, is Mitch McConnell. If McConnell decides to be as obstructionist to Biden as he was to Obama -- and after Trump he could be a lot worse -- it's going to be hard for any Democratic policy to get passed.

The good news is that there's a lot of policy that can be set at the cabinet level. Some of his Treasury, HHS, and Defense picks (not necessarily the secretaries but other senior staff) have already indicated they'll be prioritizing climate-reactive policies, and that's not even talking about Energy, Transportation, or Interior Departments, or the EPA.
Granted, I'd be willing to bet that whatever the US government does won't even come close to what's required, but at the VERY least, a Biden administration will be taking baby steps forward instead of giant leaps backward like we had been doing the past 4 years (and... the past 4 decades). _________________ 51 Washington, D.C. albums!

I wanna go back to being able to think like this. Those were the days. _________________ "I feel like for the last two years there’s been sort of a sonic evolution happening and I’ve been experimenting more and more."

I have found the constant bleating about America's (supposedly) rich history of (alleged) democracy being under threat quite ironic. Obviously today's events have been awful and shocking, but I've literally been listening to American politicians and commentators speaking on the news all evening about how for over 200 years they have been a beacon of democracy and an inspiration to the rest of the world. It really is a nausea-inducing, selective version of history that simply doesn't correlate with reality. A country that treats its own citizens like dogs or children (depending on circumstance) gets the democracy it deserves. Imagine the police response if those were largely black or brown crowds storming the Capitol.
However, I do really hope some form of sensible solution can be found, for everbody's sake. There's a lot of hopeful discourse over here at the minute about this marking "the end of Trumpism", but I feel it would be silly to expect that the genie can just be tempted back into the bottle without leaving a whole lot of shattered glass lying around. Worrying times. _________________ 2021 in full effect. Come drop me some recs. Y'all know what I like.
