Believing in a God (where the term God is used in a meaningful way) in the enlightened well-educated 21st century is exactly as ridiculous as believing in Zeus or Oden or Ra, or that the earth is the center of the universe, or that the world is 6000 years old, or that man was created exactly the way he is now, or that OK Computer is the greatest album of all time.
