Well, this morning in North America at least, the SOPA/ PIPA legislature was brought up again.

But, it basically shuts down all the good parts of the internet. 
I was having a discussion in my physics class today, and we also brought up the question: Who has more power, The US government, or the internet?
We all pretty much answered with the internet...but there was a hefty argument. q
Some sites like Google, Wikipedia, RYM, mediafire, tinymixtapes, and a crapload of smaller ones, have been part of a blackout to support awareness of the problem, for we won't have those websites if this passes. Multiple musicians are against it too, and there the ones who are being pirated against.
Does copyright and piracy really need to be taken to this level?  We're all human, we all deserve freedom, right?...

Glad you're against it (I assumed you would be though).
I haven't actually looked into the fine-print, underground shady stuff with it. I guessed there would be some with such a ridiculous policy, but I'm unaware of it right now.
Wanna elaborate for me/ anybody else?

O.K. How are we going 2 have free speech about what the government is REALLY doing when they will have the ability 2 CENSOR ANYTHING SAID AGAINST THEM

Exactly, it's a lack of freedom, but more importantly, it's a loss of control. It's an extremely scary thought if they win.  Canada won't be immediately effected, but will most likely follow in the months afterwards.
Wikipedia had a strong statement about not having free knowledge.
And the other scary part, is that the government is keeping this hush-hush, simply because they now can. Facebook and twitter posts about SEPA/ PIPA are being monitored, and altered. (This happened to myself about 2 hours ago).
Going to start a fucking war if it passes

Not to nitpick (or yes to nitpick, because I'm doin' it anyway TRY TO STOP ME) but it's SOPA, not SEPA, and I second GARY's enormous red NOs.
