Simple, what's the worst debut from an artist who turned out great?
First nomination: David Bowie
PS. I have used the search feature to see if this has been covered before but the search feature isn't very good. I couldn't see that it has been covered but apologies if it has I'm not trying to offend anyone... _________________ Shut up mate you're boring!
I want to say Seinfeld, but that's not music ...Hmmm...
The Kinks and The Rolling Stones both started off kind of slowly, both relying heavily on R&B covers (hadn't gotten the Beatles memo). The Kinks were kind of weak at those in my opinion.. Bob Dylan's first album isn't bad, but it isn't great either. Simon and Garfunkel started off slowly. The Flaming Lips definitely spring to mind as late bloomers. The word "worst" is kind of problematic though.

Rush. They have since produced 17 more albums (ranging from decent to incredible, at least in my eyes) and only one was worse than their debut for me. It's not...awful, it's just unoriginal and cliche. Some of the tunes are fun, at least.
