Another positive from this KONY trend:
Even though this event will probably die out when people get distracted by Kim Kardashian, NBA trade deadline, or Call of Duty 69 (don't get me wrong - we all need entertainment  ) or their day to day lives, or other important issues like the US primaries...
Even though this money that is raised may not actually lead to saving child soldiers...
Even though the situation in Africa is so much more complicated than finding 'bad guys' and catching them...
This event have come from young people. Not their parents, not their teachers. If any change results from this, it is showing them how they can be empowered. They may go back to their lives, but they'll be taught a lesson - that individuals can enact change. They may forget this lesson, but at least they've got it now. Further, this is encouraging young people to look beyond the end of their nose and realize there is a world out there. Hell - I didn't realize that stuff until college. Before that, I was too focused on Drew Barrymore, NHL entry draft, and Mortal Kombat. 
On a side note - Joseph Kony is on his last legs anyway. If he gets caught, let the people think this video did it. It wouldn't hurt.

I'm still going to take part in the KONU 2012 event, regardless of my thoughts on the matter. It will be a good opportunity for me to relive my troubled youth and go tagging on a night when it will be inconspicuous.

I would call it rather uninformed to refer to the anti-war campaigns of the 60's as just a fad by stupid kids and I believe the occupy movement is more than that as well. As for KONY...come on.

All the anti-war campaigns SINCE the 60's have been nothing more than that. It does nothing, and most of the people involved just don't care anyway. I chilled for a bit at the Occupy camp - it was pretty stupid. No one really gave a shit or really knew why the hell they were there. All they were were a bunch of kids dicking around. And the ones who WEREN'T were just ex-hippy pseudo-intellectuals who would complain about politics they didn't understand and more-or-less call for outright socialism.
I frequently tag along to a lot of these big protests because there's usually some good and cheap drugs to be had, but that's all they ever really amount to. These movements are a pretty big joke.
