How is this only rated 81/100? I consider this to be the greatest song ever recorded. It's not like this is some odd opinion I have... many, if not most sources put this one near the top. But here, it's rated the fourth best ON THE ALBUM. Really? What's the deal?

I realize it's taken from the average of people's votes, I'm just wondering why it's not higher.

Maybe because I've heard it about 2000 times, I really don't rate it that highly (not that I've bothered to rate it on BEA). Certainly the lyrics are some of the most beautiful, lofty, idealistic ever, but the tune is... kind of boring. I prefer #9 Dream, Jealous Guy, Instant Karma, God, and Mind Games all over Imagine easily.

I really have never understood statements like this. It's rather like saying that the Mona Lisa is a poor painting because way too many people have seen and recognize it. Was Abraham Lincoln a poor president because his image appears too often on U.S. currency? It seems absurd, doesn't it?

The album is kind of crap.

Imagine (the song) has probably been heard 100 times over by everyone - eventually it would get annoying.

I like the song, but I wouldn't put it in my top 10 best songs. Might not even make my top 50, but would make the top 100.

John Lennon's best is Working Class Hero and Happy Xmas (War Is Over).

I agree that the album is less than stellar; it has it's moments, but a lot of it is really not that good.

Obviously you're all entitled to your own opinons, but I can't see how someone could dislike that song (unless they were fanatically religious or something). The melody at the heart of the song is unbelievably beautiful. Is it innovative? No. Is it edgy? Not really. But that doesn't mean it's a bad song.

It honestly seems like it's some sort of hipster/unique complex that some of you have. I don't get it.
