Ban boomerangs and bear traps

These cannot kill easily from large distances. Guns represent unparalleled power and ability to kill. There is no "automatic bear trap" that snaps at people from 50+ feet in rapid succession. Even in the hands of the well-intentioned they are dangerous.

Outside of diverting to the absurdity of boomerangs, slingshots and stern glances when talking about gun control, I think that much tighter regulation is needed. It shouldn't be so easy to acquire a gun. It shouldn't be so easy to buy ammo. There's no need to bring a gun to a movie theater, school or grocery store. The founding fathers did not intend for every u.s. citizen to be toting an AK when they called for "a right to bear arms". That's two awful massacres at the hands of "kids" around where i live in the last 15 years. Yes, the solution is more complicated than "tighter regulation", but that's a start.

Stricter gun control laws won't necessarily stop stuff like this from happening. People will still not follow the law and continue to own guns and do shit like this. Look at drug prohibition. Millions of Americans still do drugs even though they are illegal.

No guns.

World peace bro.

And Toronto has had a few gang-related shooting lately. It's just as big of a topic here right now, as it is in the states.

Yes, stricter gun laws won't stop this alone, but it's a start and a piece of the puzzle. There's no reason to bring an assault rifle deer hunting or to bring a glock to school. Accepted uses for guns should be limited, punishment for not following the law should be more severe, places like a theater that already charges $10-$15 per ticket should be able to lock and monitor exit doors. Again, there are many elements to the problem and it would take a long time to put a solution in place, but i wish we'd start now.

Up to me, guns would be limited to law enforcement, hunting, firing ranges and home protection. I don't need a gun at DQ to help me eat my blizzard or take notes in a college class.

See that's a dumb argument for gun control.

"Well it'll happen anyways, may as well make it legal"

We may as well make murder legal, since it happens sometimes anyways.

If you make it harder for people to have guns, these kinds of things will happen less often. And that's the goal. To make tragedies like this less likely.

I agree with you, I was just saying that it won't completely stop this from happening. And when did I say that guns should stay legal?

Meanwhile in Arizona legislators find it important to lift bans on carrying concealed weapons without a permit and allow guns in bars.

The laws ain't gonna change in a meaningful way in any foreseeable future.

Horrible tragedy. And yes, the abundance of guns is a major reason why it happens here. Finland, another gun-happy country, also rank high on this type of thing.
