I have a few militant atheist friends, who are far more annoying (when discussing this particular subject) than any of my religious friends (apart from one recent "born again" Muslim). I know far more atheists who rarely bring up the subject of religion as it doesn't directly affect their daily lives. I think most people are reasonable to be honest, but it's often easy to confuse a vocal minority with a majority.

Definitely.

I don't beleive in god. But outspoken Atheits can be very annoying.

I do think that everyone need to be a part of some "higher meaning", religious or not.

Exactly. Dawkins doesn't speak for me anymore than a Pope, Chief Rabbi, Grand Ayatollah or Grand Imam speaks for all religious people.

Juuust some semantics:

Really the Imāmah would be the leader of Islam, the Grand Imam of Al-Azhar is just a position of Egyptian authority.

None of the people he said are the leaders of their faith really, except maybe the pope who heads the catholic church. You're being too pedantic anyway, the point is that each atheist has his or her own opinions seperate to what the self appointed spokesmen for atheism say, just like people who follow any particular religion aren't necessarily spoken for by the religious figures ButterThumbz mentioned.

Well, yes, the point wasn't that they were leaders. I was just trying to think of religious types. I could have plumped for the Westboro's, Joel Osteen or Abu Hamza.

I'd love to see Fred Phelps, Joel Osteen, Abu Hamza and Dick Dawkins in a fight to the death.
